Oh My Ador-rables!
By Dainty Voyage
Click, click—click.
Tch, tch—tch.
‘Welcome, Dainty Voyage.’
It was an evening in June 2024, an unexpected creature in the room of a human couple logged into the computer. It belonged to the person so-called Dada. The furry tentacles wiggled through the air. Click, click, click. Two of them slashed onto the keyboard. Tch, tch, tch. The beans inside their tips made sounds that Mama loved.
Another shadow rose from the bed, tiny wings spread from its back. Flap, flap. It traveled to the bulletin board lit by the computer screen.
The one on the computer was called Pus. He was an orange octopus. Eyes? Round. Smile? Smug. He wore a pair of goggles on his forehead, too large to fit his eyes. But the yellow and black striped scarf he wore was tailored for him. He could not go anywhere without it.
And at the bulletin board, the flying octopus was Ocpus. She was purple. She may be a little bit tinier, but she could swiftly arrange the detective board with ease. All because of her magical wings.
Who knew what they were doing?
‘Oh my ador-rables!’ Pus yelled at the top of his voice. His tentacles froze above the keyboard.
‘What is it?’ Stunned by Pus, Ocpus flew over to the computer.
‘Look! Da and Ma are on vaca-tion without us! Here is the e-vidence…’ Click, click, click! Several pictures of the human couple popped up on the screen.
Ocpus gasped. She could not believe her eyes. The only strand of hair that she had withered and rested on her forehead. She said, ‘That cannot be true. No wonder they are still not home by this hour, they are miles away.’
‘All the training for being cute for humans... They will find new plushies after all.’ Pus jumped to his tragic conclusion.
Ocpus shook her head vigorously to shake off her fear. She patted Pus on his head. Tch. She declared, ‘There is no time to over-think. We must win their hearts once again!’
The two plushies gazed into the daunting city through the window. Their determination was set. Tch—tch.
